I know I can't be the only one still reeling from todays excitement. A new President, a new FEMALE, black, asian American VP, amazing political fashions (hello monochrome looks), and Lady Gaga singing the National Anthem.

Fashion yesterday and today was symbolic. From the color purple - which signifies women's equality, justice, dignity, and royalty; to the color blue - which signifies trust, confidence, and stability; the color white for women's suffrage; and symbolic touches such as Madam VP's pearls and Lady Gaga's oversized dove brooch- which really caught my eye.

When I saw Lady Gaga's look, I was stopped in my tracks. Her gorgeous, custom gown was designed by Schiaparelli, but the dove brooch is what made the entire look for me. A dove is a symbol of peace, beauty, love, and grace. In a tweet earlier today, Lady Gaga unveiled the symbolic meaning of her dove brooch, "A dove carrying an olive branch. May we all make peace with each other." She also has a song named "1000 Doves" from her latest album, Chromatica, and for whatever reason the symbolism of this dove while watching her sing the National Anthem on this historic, happy moment unifying our country really moved me.

I immediately went to google to find a dove brooch that I can adorn on my winter coats to convey the same message. While oversized dove brooches aren't necessarily easy to come by, I found a few smaller, vintage options on Etsy and I wanted to share. I personally ordered 2 off Etsy and I can't wait for them to arrive!
