Makeup Monday: The Shaping of the Brow

Writer's picture: Dani SauterDani Sauter

For today's Makeup Monday I want to talk eyebrows. For one, I seriously think they have minds of their own sometimes (really, does anyone else feel like their brows like grow overnight?!). Second, I never believed in the power of filling in your eyebrows until recently. Although it may not seem like a lot, filling in and shaping your eyebrows can enhance the overall look of your face. Don't believe me? Look at the picture below- my left brow is filled in and my right brow is not. What a huge difference, right?

So how did I do this? Here are a few pointers to conquering your brows:

1. Fill your brows: I like the Diorshow Brow Styler Ultra-Fine Precision Brow Pencil ($29 from Sephora), since it is a universal color and very simple to use. First comb your brows to desired shape. Then fill in your brows with the pencil with light strokes. Once you have filled in your brows, comb them again. (Tip- if using the Dior Brow Pencil, turn the pencil so only the top of the pencil is out, like in the picture above. If you have too much out the pencil will break).

2. Set your brows (optional): I sometimes use hair gel or clear mascara to keep my eyebrows from moving, especially if I'm due for an eyebrow wax and the hairs are longer than normal. Do so by taking a very small amount of gel or clear mascara and dabbing it on your brows, then comb them in place with an eyebrow brush.

XOXO
