Happy Monday, Fashion Friends!
I hope your Monday was short and pleasant, and filled with lots of coffee :)
Today's post is about how to create a cat eye using Mary Kay Gel Eyeliner. The cat eye is my signature look and I want to share it with you all. For those that may be scared of eyeliner- let me start with this: in my opinion, gel is the easiest to work with. It is easy to apply and work with since its a smoother consistency and is much more forgiving than liquid liner. I want to highlight this Mary Kay Gel Eyeliner in Jet Black, $18 at Mary Kay, since it has become a favorite of mine due to its easy application and smudge free, long-wear color! So, that said: roll up your sleeves, get yourself some of this awesome Mary Kay Gel Eyeliner, and follow the directions below.
1. Apply your eye shadow. You need to apply liner after eye shadow application, or else the eye shadow will cover up the liner.
2. With the gel eyeliner brush, collect a small amount of gel from the pot on both sides of the brush. Start to apply the liner at the inside corner of your eye, and once you have the line started, keep drawing it close to your lash line to the outer corner of your eye.
Tip: I normally do this in strokes to make sure I'm as close to my lash line as possible.
3. Now the most important part- once you have applied the liner to your whole lash line, draw a small line at the outer corner of your eye in an upwards motion, creating the cat eye, or winged look. Once you have the wing drawn, you can start to trace back over it to create a smooth look and re-line your full eye if you want a thicker line. If you want a thicker cat eye, re-trace it until its at desired thickness.
Tip: If your wing is too thick, take a Q-Tip with makeup remover and carefully erase the line into a pointy, upwards shape (I have to do this all the time!).
4. Apply to other eye and top with 2-3 coats of mascara!!
