Thanks to Instagram, I recently heard about the DC Street Sticker Expo 2.0 on display at The Fridge, an art gallery and performance space in Barracks Row. I was intrigued by this as I have a curiosity and love for unique street art and knew I had to attend this art show.
So what is a street sticker expo, you ask? Well first, its curated by sticker artist, iwillnot, who commissioned artists from around the world to submit small and large scale adhesive art. The result is a 300 ft wall covered in an estimated 50,000 stickers from over 500 artists, which is pretty freaking cool. You could seriously stare at the wall for hours in awe of all the stickers and appreciate this conglomerate of art from around the world. Some stickers have bold messages, others have deeper meanings which make you think. Some are hand drawn and some are screen printed. Some are eerie and weird, while others are funny and unique. That's the coolest thing about this expo- there isn't just one theme, there's thousands of themes, messages, and each carries its own identity. To me, these elements are what art is all about. If you're into sticker art and creativity, add this to your summer to-do list.
The DC Street Sticker Expo 2.0 at The Fridge will be on display until August 23. For hours and more information, visit The Fridge website.
