Brainwashed in DC

Blonde in the District

PSA, Fashion Friends....Mr. Brainwash (my favorite street artist), has finally landed a mural in DC. This is huge- major- GROUNDBREAKING. I'm not even joking. On Tuesday for International Women's Day, Mr. Brainwash worked his magic at Union Market DC for a collaboration with the fabulous FLOTUS, Michelle Obama, for the Let Girls Learn initiative. The initiative is focused on educational awareness and aims to help girls around the world attend and complete school. Mr. Brainwash spanned the side of Union Market with his famous Life is Beautiful, Follow Your Heart, and Never Give Up tag lines; iconic Albert Einstein and Charlie Chaplin images; and graffiti hearts. He customized the Life is Beautiful mural with educational images to bring awareness to the cause. Both he and Michelle Obama's signatures can be found alongside the artwork.

After seeing this on Mr. Brainwash's Instagram page, I knew I had to go ASAP to admire and pay respect to the cause. I have been following Mr. Brainwash since 2010 when my friend Kate and I stumbled into his ICONS art show at a warehouse in NYC's Meatpacking District. His modern take on pop art and positive words and sayings struck me and I have always remembered that show vividly. Over the years I have stalked him on all social media outlets and always hoped he would grace the streets of DC one day. And that day has finally come! I have a feeling this mural is about to be all over social media- so go soon and snap your own pics before the crowds!
