Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Washington Nationals games are something that I almost never go to, but when I do go I always end up having a great time. Last night I went to my first Nats game of the season with my dad. He had excellent seats and I had no plans, so I figured why not! Plus, I knew I'd actually watch the game with him, rather than go stand the the Red Porch socializing the whole time :) While I don't follow the Nats closely, I grew up playing softball so baseball does have a special place in my heart and deep down I do enjoy watching the sport.

Of course the question I first thought of was "what am I going to wear?!" Since I don't own any Nats apparel other than a hat which was a gift from my best friend Erin, I knew I'd have to rock the hat to show Nats spirit. To stay within the red, white, and blue color scheme of the Nats, I wore a red lip, navy legging jeans from Gap, a white lace top from Forever 21 (find similar here), and white Converse high tops. Since it was a cool evening I wore a Gap Factory utility jacket for warmth (found at the Old Town Alexandria location). This look was comfortable and warm yet stylish, which is the look I always try to go for when dressing casual ( aka comfort chic!). To complete the appearance that I was a DC fan, I threw on my DC Flag Necklace by local DC Jewelry Designer, Rachel Pfeffer, for good measure.

The game was a blast! Since we arrived early, we went to Blue Jacket to taste test the beers and see the brewery as I've always heard good things. On our walk to the stadium from Blue Jacket, we took a detour to the Yards Park fountains and river views which are awesome. I love the modern appeal of Yards Park and I definitely need to spend more time there. Our seats at the game were great- right behind the Nats dugout and provided unbeatable views of the field. The Nats played a tight game with lots of excitement. The game consisted of Stephen Strasburg pitching, the Nats tying the score near the end of the game, Bryce Harper getting thrown out of the game, lively fans, topped with Clint Robinson winning the game in a walk-off home run! It was definitely an enjoyable evening and I'm looking forward to attending more games this season. GO NATS!

XOXO
