FAB Friday: DIY Glitter Champagne Flute

Happy Fri-YAY, friends! I have decided to bring back the FAB(ulous) Friday post entries each week on the blog! Its something I started doing when my blog was still somewhat new, and to be honest I'm not sure why I ever stopped! So, today marks the commencement of FAB Friday posts again! To start, I've decided to give you all a FAB DIY tutorial on how to make these amazingly easy glitter champagne flutes.

DIY Champagne Flutes

The story behind these flutes goes as follows: for the last Bubbles & Bloggers Girls Night Out (GNO), I decided to make a cute party favor since I love any excuse for arts and crafts (when I have the time!). Since we were going to be drinking bottomless pink champagne, I opted to make these fabulous glitter glasses for our sipping pleasure. I have seen varying DIY instructions on Pinterest on how to make similar styles, but I had some materials in my craft box I wanted to use up, so I just winged it. The end result was awesome and they were honestly very easy to make and did not take up lots of time (not counting drying time). Since the glasses were a hit I wanted to write up a quick DIY for the glitter champs glasses so you can make them for your next GNO! These would also make great party favors for a birthday or bachelorette party!

What you’ll need:

  • A set of plastic champagne glasses (I got these from Party City)

  • Glitter

  • Tacky glue (or gel glue)

  • Mod Podge- glass

  • Decocolor Paint Pen

  • Foam paint brush

Step 1: Rinse and wash the champagne flutes and let them fully dry.

Step 2: Using the paint pen, write/draw whatever it is you want on the glasses. Since I was making these for our Bubbles & Bloggers group, I chose to use all our blog names. (You can also choose nick-names, Bride/Bridesmaid, or make a fun design). Tip- I retraced the letters about 4-5 times for the bold color and lettering.

Step 3: Using the foam paint brush, apply the glue to the stem base of the champagne flute and immediately sprinkle the glitter over the base while the glue is still wet.

Step 4: Repeat Step 3 to the base of the glass.

Step 5: Let the glitter and glue fully dry. Tip- I let the glasses dry about 3-4 hours.

Step 6: Using the foam paint brush, cover all areas of the glass you added glitter to with Mod Podge. This step is critical to seal in the glitter so the glitter doesn't come off the glass and stick to your hands. Tip- the Mod Podge application will look super thick and white, but it dries clear, so don't worry!

Step 7: Let the glasses fully dry. Tip- I applied the Mod Podge at night and left them overnight to dry.

Step 8: Fill with champagne, turn on some fun tunes and ENJOY!!
