In frantic efforts to find the perfect backpack for my upcoming trip to Peru in June, I have scoured what feels like a gazillion sites and styles trying to pick the one. I’m not normally a backpack girl, however this trip is going to require some practical accessories, so I have been looking for something chic, sturdy, and useful for my upcoming adventures in Peru. While it’s a good time to be searching for backpacks since they are so popular right now, I came to realize that all the ones I loved were upwards of $1,000, which I simply can’t justify (much less afford right now!) for a backpack. While I’d love to have a Fendi Monster Backpack or Valentino Rock Stud Backpack (and I do love to splurge on bags every now and then), I have to be realistic in the fact that a backpack for me is not a splurge-worthy item. Not to mention the cost of some of those fabulous bags could cover the entire cost of my trip to Peru!

After searching and searching online, I started to see the same styles over and over and I noticed the trend in the cheaper bags being inspired from the big name luxury designer brands. Of course this is something that happens all the time in fashion (do I need to quote The Devil Wears Prada scene when Miranda puts Andy in her place about her ugly blue clearance bin sweater?), but the backpacks are fresh in my mind and I started to save some of my favorite bags and their less expensive- yet still as fabulous- doppelgangers.
