To The Max

Last Saturday, I was lucky to spend the day with my husband who normally works every weekend. Since it's rare he is off work on a Saturday, we decided to go on a day date and hit up my favorite brunch (and lunch and dinner spot), Ambar, in Barracks Row. I had an idea of what I was planning to wear to brunch, but the ensemble was just not working for me that morning. In a fashion state of emergency, while flinging clothes around my room in a panic that the Uber was arriving in 5 minutes, I spotted this black maxi dress I had hanging in my closet begging to be worn for the first time. I looked at it for a second thinking, "Is this too dressy for brunch?" then threw it on anyways, deciding in the spur of the moment I'd dress it down with flats and a large bag. We left the apartment in no time and I felt great in my daytime take on this black maxi all day!

The beauty of a good black maxi dress is the versatility and ease that comes with wearing one, not to mention the sophistication and class they can exude if worn right. It's also a transitional item and can be worn from day-to-night throughout the year. Had I gone out on the town Saturday night, I would've simply traded in my flat gladiators for a pair of wedges or strappy heels and swapped my large bag for a clutch. For the fall, I'm already planning to wear this dress with converse or booties with a moto jacket; and for the winter with a faux fur and diamonds for an extra classy look! The best thing about this maxi? It was $20! See outfit details below!

Outfit Details: Wrap-Front Maxi Dress: Forever 21+ (surprise, surprise); Gladiator Sandals: Louise et Cie; Thick Choker Necklace: Forever 21 (worn inside out); Quay My Girl Sunglasses in Clear/Silver: Nordstrom; Boston Bag: Gucci (find similar here); Michael Kors Purse Pom: Nordstrom; Bracelets: various Alex & Ani charms.

Shout out to my #InstagramHusband who so kindly took my pics by The Fridge art gallery, and actually did a good job!

XOXO
