Makeup Monday: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

Happy Makeup Monday, friends! Its the start of a new week, and one that I am excited about. Its going to be a great week filled with blog events and planning. I hope you all have exciting weeks ahead, too!

For today's makeup post, I'm featuring one of my current favorite products- the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream. At just $6 a pop, these matte lip creams are a complete steal! There are 34 different shades to choose from, too! I first learned of these matte creams when I received a sample from the NYX store opening in Tysons last spring, and I have been hooked ever since.

For just $6 the quality is very good in my opinion. I sometimes have issues with matte lipsticks being way too dry, but this one isn't bad at all. If I exfoliate my lips before use, I can wear it literally all day and not be bothered by my lips drying out. The staying power is great too- I can go hours before having to apply a touch up! I also like the consistency- its not sticky like some mattes and is creamy so it goes on very well. What I like most about it (other than the price!) is its true matte finish and it stays put and never runs!

My fave colors (from left to right): Sydney, Antwerp, Zurich, Cannes, Amsterdam

To apply the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, I start with a lip exfoliate, followed by chap-stick. I then apply a bit of concealer or lip primer to my lips to create a base. I always start out with lip liner to accentuate my lips and give a good canvas for the matte cream (I like NYX Lip Liner in Nude Pink and pair it with a ton of colors). Following the lip liner, I apply a generous amount of the matte lip cream all over my lips. And that's it- easy and simple!

As if the price can't be beat- I have a tip for buying these for even cheaper! I have found that CVS will put NYX cosmetics on BOGO 50% off sale about once a month! When I see this sale, I stock up- you seriously can't beat 2 matte lip creams for under $10!!
