Who is ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow? (Raises hand and eagerly waves it). So next question, who has an outfit already picked out for tomorrow? No? Well good because I'm bringing you a fun and different Thanksgiving day outfit to consider. I thought of this outfit as a good holiday alternative because I have fallen in the sweater trap all too often.
I don't know if this comes with growing older, or maybe I don't drink enough water (which will be my 2017 resolution), but I am almost always hot. I can't tell you how many times I have legit thought I was going to burst into flames while having a hot flash in a sweater that looked cute on the shelf, but turned out to be an itchy hot mess on. Being hot and itchy is the last thing I want to be on Thanksgiving. Especially when the oven is going, drinks are being had- not to mention post dinner food coma- a thicker sweater is the last thing on my mind in terms of being comfortable and cool, no matter how cute they look.
So, in an effort to bring a different, unexpected, and stylish outfit option to Thanksgiving, I'm recommending a romper. Yes, a romper! You know that one you had over the summer and loved so much, but just put away for cooler temps? Well, bring it out and give it a try for Thanksgiving! I love the options of a romper and the versatility they have- not to mention if you have a comfortable one, that's a win-win for the post-dinner food coma!
There are a few ways you can make your romper cold weather appropriate. I suggest sticking with darker rompers so it doesn't look too summery and like you are trying too hard to make it work for fall. Think darker colors and prints or jewel tones. I'd also advise wearing a romper with sleeves, although you can still rock a sleeveless romper by adding an oversize blazer or comfortable oversized cardigan. My go to for styling a romper in fall/winter is OTK boots. Pair your romper and OTK boots together and boom- you have a great outfit that takes like 2 minutes to throw together. No OTK boots? No problem. Throw on dark tights and heeled booties instead! You can pair tights with the OTK boots as well, if you are normally on the cold side. Top your look with a faux fur vest or vest duster for added warmth. For outer wear, top with a long jacket and scarf and you're set! Easy, simple, yet super chic! And unexpected, which I love!
