Three Ways to Wear feature on Studs, Style & Lace

One thing I love about the blogging world is the support system that comes with it- sometimes from people you've never even met in person! When my blogger and personal stylist friend, Niki Whittle of Studs, Style and Lace, asked if I'd be interested in being a guest on her blog, I jumped at the chance. Niki has some amazing and unique style, and she inspires me to try new things. I especially love her Three Ways to Wear entries, where she features one item three ways to show fashionable function.

While you can view the entire post on Niki's blog- Style Studs & Lace, I wanted to share parts of my entry on BITD, too! Since I define my personal style as classic with an edge, I decided to feature a classic, yet edgy item- a faux leather pencil skirt.

When it comes to clothing, you know I like to I stick with staple items (unless its something super fun!) and always assess the cost-per-wear, plus I look at the number of ways I can wear it. I like to get the most use out of clothing and try to buy items I can wear for work, for day, and for play, so when Niki approached me about a guest Three Ways to Wear, I knew this would be a great way to feature my picks!

I consider a faux-leather pencil skirt to be a must-have in any closet, and I love its classic versatility. Since I'm a curvy hourglass/8 shape, I

tend to gravitate towards skirts and dresses, as I feel they look better on my body. I also normally opt for fitted clothing that hugs my curves, as opposed to loose clothing that will make me appear bigger. See below how a leather skirt can be styled for work, for day, and for play!

Faux Leather Skirt Options:

For Work:

I paired my leather skirt with a classic red blouse, neck scarf, and heels for an office-appropriate look. I tucked the top into the skirt to give definition to my waist and opted for pointy-toe pumps to elongate my legs. Since the top is boat neck, I defined my neck with the scarf.

For Day:

To make the skirt more casual, I paired it with a printed tee with the hem tied in a knot to define the waist, scarf, light jacket, and comfy slip-on sneaks that can take me from brunch to errands or shopping for the day. I wore a longer-length coat with the skirt, so the flow of the outfit isn't cut in half by a short-length jacket.

For Play:

This is where I like to go all out with my style! Even though I'm curvy, I don't shy away from certain looks, such as this sheer bodysuit. I think there is something to be said for women who rock certain trends, void of body type. I embrace my curves by showing them off in a sheer body suit with the leather skirt, and again elongate my legs with these clear lucite heels. To top ff the look, I added a vintage belt that I wore as a necklace and a fabulous embellished clutch bag.
