This past Saturday I attended Diner en Blanc in DC for the second year. Diner en Blanc was started in Paris in the late 80s and is essentially a fancy picnic where everything you wear and bring is white, and you cart all of your supplies with you (table, chairs, food, decor, etc). Diner en Blanc is know for its over the top reputation and is one of the best events for people watching in all of DC, as people go all out with their personal style and looks.
Given this fact, I knew my outfit and entire look had to be good. Real good. While perusing the ELOQUII website for white dresses, I came across the Puff Sleeve Blazer Dress and instantly knew it was the one. I was unsure of how I wanted my hair and makeup, but once I saw Kylie Jenner at the VMAs with a blazer dress that was insanely similar to my ELOQUII pick, I decided to go full on Kylie and I enlisted the help of my Illusions fam to help me perfect the look.

For event makeup and hair, I swear by Illusions. Anytime they help me get ready for an event, I am always asked about my makeup or hair all night. To perfectly achieve the Kylie look I had a few brainstorming discussions with Yvette, Illusions makeup artist, and Josh, Illusions stylist, to go over the concept. We decided to mirror Kylie's look, but add in some flair like glitter, since it was for Diner en Blanc, after all!
Yvette did my makeup using primarily Jane Iredale products, which is the in-house makeup brand at Illusions. I had some Kylie Cosmetics and KKW Cosmetics items that I brought with me, and we incorporated those into the look as well since I was channeling all things Jenner/Kardashian. We went for a burnt orange/gold look, with defined contour and tons of glow on my face, neck, and chest, to make my skin look tan.

For hair, Josh gave me a deep parted slicked back bun with some added height. He was able to create this look using my natural hair without any extensions and it lasted all night. To spice it up a bit, we added a variety of glitter to the deep part which he sealed in with hair spray and gel. The glitter also lasted all night, and easily washed out the next day. What I like most about Illusions is the personalized, tailored experience. Trust me, I have come in with some off the wall requests <like adding glitter to my hair, or "make me look like Kylie Jenner" lol> and they are always able to accommodate, and use products that are best for my hair or skin type for the best results.
I left Illusions last Saturday excited for the event and ready to channel Kylie! Once I got the dress on, everything came together and I felt like a million bucks the entire night. I even had someone come up to me after Diner en Blanc, saying my look was similar with Kylie Jenner's recent VMA look! SUCCESS! DC Refined also captured my look in their best dressed list from the event!
Thanks to Illusions, they helped shape my night in the best way possible! If you have an upcoming event and are in need of hair and makeup services, the Illusions team will have you covered!
