Two weeks ago I was NYC bound for New York Fashion Week (NYFW) and The CurvyCon. I still remember my first NYFW experience and ever since, I told myself I was going to go every season. Between the shows, meeting new people, and the street style, it is the fashion highlight of my year time and time again.
This September I had a really quick NYFW trip, only staying 2 days/1 night, so I tried to fit in as much as possible. One of the shows I was able to see was the Flying Solo Spring/Summer 2019 presentation. Flying Solo is a NYC based collective of 50+ emerging designers from around the world. The brand has a common showroom, where each designer puts in two four-hour shifts a week and pays membership fees for the common space to present, design, photograph, and sell their designs.
NYFW Day 1 Look
I was eager to see this show, after coming across the brand online and seeing some of the designers. Average runway shows are typically 10 minutes or less. The Flying Solo show was ~20min+ and was incredible! The designs were cool and fresh and the casting was diverse and I loved that they included plus models in the show- which is something more designers need to do!
Today I'm sharing all my favorite looks from the show, which were provided by Flying Solo. To learn more information about the brand and the collective of designers, you can view the Flying Solo website or Instagram page.
