One of my favorite things about blogging is meeting new people and making new friendships. If it wasn't for blogging, I would have never met Roxanne ~2.5 years ago. Roxanne runs Glass of Glam, a blog focused on feminine, affordable fashion, beauty, and fitness; and has become my blogger bestie- a trusted confidant for all things blogging and all things friendship.
When I first started blogging, I had no idea what I was doing. It took a lot of trial and error, and a ton of time to really build Blonde in the District and make my blog and personal brand known. For the first 2 years of my blog, I fumbled along, accepting almost anything that came my way because I was so thrilled someone wanted to work with me. Today, I carefully pick apart campaigns and offers to make sure its a right fit for my brand, the terms are fair on both ends, and I'm not being taken advantage of as an influencer.
It wasn't until 2 years in I actually turned any sort of profit from my blog, and 3 years to *really* find my stride and confidence in this whole industry. BITD just turned 4 on October 25 and I'm still shocked (and very grateful) at what it has accomplished in 4 short years. Along this journey with me, has been Roxanne, who is also making strides with her brand. When I met Roxanne and we started talking blogging, we both clicked in that we both had the goal to take this full time and really succeed. We were both on the same level at the time, which helped greatly as we have been able to grow with each other and be each others biggest cheerleaders. What started as a text message here or there asking for advice on dealing with a brand or general blogging topics, has turned into a full on blog support system and we lean on each other heavily in this blogging stratosphere. If I have a question about rates, a question about Instagram, or just want to bitch about a silly campaign, Roxanne is the first person I go to, knowing she will straight up give me an honest response or lend an ear.
As we both have grown our blogs greatly in the past 2.5 years, we have learned a ton about social media, working with brands, building our own brands, and general blogging 101. We decided to put our heads together on a collaborative effort we've labeled, That's Money, Honey! The entries will be available the first Wednesday of every month, focused on one topic. Roxanne and I both will share our thoughts, experiences, and tips on each topic from our own personal blogging journeys.
Our first topic, Building Your Blog Brand, will be available Wednesday, December 5, 2018 on both BITD and Glass of Glam. We have some exciting topics in store for 2019, but we also want to hear what you are interested in!
