Blonde in the District TURNS 6!

WOAH! SIX YEARS!!! I can't believe that today marks 6 years since I hit "publish" on my blog for the every first time. It honestly feels like a lifetime ago and I can happily say I am so proud of myself for where I am today.

I think so often, instead of celebrating our successes, we can be hard on ourselves and think we haven't done or accomplished enough. I used to have that mentality but after changing my thinking and looking back at how far I've *actually* come both personally and professionally, I deserve to celebrate myself and my work- and you should, too!

This year, since I couldn't celebrate with a party (ugh- pandemic!), I celebrated with a Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend themed photo shoot focused on celebrating not just me, but others that my blog has introduced me to through the years who have inspired and supported me in my journey (get it? They are my diamonds!). Whether it’s been pushing me beyond my own limits and helping me view my body more positively (thank you @shaferminnick & @ksuib_fitness); understanding my crazy and making me more confident in my extra-ness (looking at you @timurdc & @sunnay); listening and believing in my goals and aspirations since year 1 (all you, @youneedkevin); helping me level up creatively & bring creative ideas to light, becoming not just a business partner, but a close friend (@ariellelewisstudios) ; or making me understand my worth and always being in my corner (my manager, @alexandra_boos), I’m honored to share today together.

The concept behind this shoot was inspired by Marilyn Monroe in the classic movie, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. I wanted to portray my own version walking the line of classic, with a modern edge which I added through small details- such as the gloves (custom made by Dmaran Design) and the Moto jackets, instead of the classic tuxedos. I viewed this shoot as a way to pay homage to moments and friends (my diamonds) that have inspired me, and given me creative courage to try something new.

Thank you friends, for 6 years of Blonde in the District! Thank you for reading, supporting my vision, and being an extremely important part of my life and goals. I will forever strive to provide a space for acceptance, positivity, and feel-good style through my blog. Here's to 6+ more years!

XOXO
